About New Zealand

Firstly New Zealand has one of the most restricted and highly monitored bio-security controls at its international borders, this is to prevent the introduction of harmful pests and disease into the delicate ecosystem we call home.

All visitors will be given a Passenger Arrival Card that tells you what New Zealand considers "at risk goods". All at risk goods must be declared or be disposed of in marked amnesty bins at airports. If you're unsure – declare it. Not only does this cover the obvious fruit, vegetable and organic materials but also items like camping gear, boots outdoor equipment. This does not mean you cannot enter with your outdoor gear. It simply means you must declare, it must be very clean, and handy in your luggage for inspection. Do not let this put you off, New Zealand has a unique landscape and wildlife living among it, we want to preserve this for you to have an adventure of a life time and more importantly a life time of adventures!
For more guidance please do not hesitate to ask us any questions about your arrival into New Zealand regarding declaration of items or click here for more info

If you are bringing expensive or large equipment to New Zealand for your adventure like photographic drones, cameras or firearms these can be brought over one of two ways: as excess baggage or postage/freight import. Please contact us at Southern Cross Adventures and we will assist you with the correct procedures for firearms imports/licences, flying restriction for drones or recommended freight companies to import your equipment if it is not excess baggage.
